Was awarded a PhD for research into the Genetic evolution of glycosyl transferases for making up the repeat units of the lipopolysaccharide in Salmonella species and co-authored several scientific papers associated with the Salmonella work as well as a number of papers related to outer membrane proteins of other enteric bacteria.

Paul has held a teaching position at Adelaide University for five years  and commenced his training as a Patent and Trade Marks Attorney in 1987 with an Adelaide firm of Patent Attorneys.  He established APT Patent and Trade Mark Attorneys in 1993.

In the mechanical arena, in additional the the general mechanical work Paul has had the conduct of an international suite of defence related accousto-mechanical patents and a suite of inventions related to air conditioning systems with which he is still currently very active. In the Trade Marks area in additional to a number of general matters, he has had the conduct of a large international portfolio of wine Trade Marks and pharmaceutical Trade Marks and primarily Australian Food Trade Marks. Paul's inter partes works regularly involves him in interdisciplinary teams and at any one time Paul will have the conduct of a number of such matter.

The Biotechnology Patent practice (biotechnology used in a loose sense) is derived predominantly for the research of Australian Research Institutions, predominantly in the medical treatment and pharmaceutical field, but also include those related to foods and human nutrition. There are also a small but growing number of instructions received from commerical clients on behalf of clients from in the United States and Europe on a variety of Biotechnology matters.

Paul is a member of a number of associations and societies. He is a Fellow of the Intitute of Patent and Trade Marks Attorneys of Australia, a member of the Australian Biotechnology Association, a member of FICPI, APAA, Licensing Executive Society, and Intellectual Property Society of Australia and New Zealand.

Joined the Intellectual Property profession in 2002 and is a registered Patent and Trade Marks Attorney. Jason has significant patent drafting and prosecution experience in a range of disciplines including the mechanical and chemical fields. He also brings with him specialist technical experience with software applications. Jason has been involved in the prosecution and maintenance of international patent portfolios which has included working within interdisciplinary teams.

Jason completed a Bachelor of Science degree through the Adelaide University with a particular focus on the biological sciences, botany and ecosystem modelling. During his studies he took a leading role in several research projects concerning the environmental impacts within biological and botanical systems. These studies involved the use of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and ecosystem modelling techniques. He has also recently completed a Masters in Industrial Property through the University of Technology Sydney.

Jason has had considerable commercial dealings with Trade Marks and has managed significant international Trade Mark portfolios. He has been involved in providing advice and securing trade mark protection for a range of companies and non-profit organisations involved in a range of professions.

Jason is a member of the Intellectual Property Society of Australia and New Zealand and various business focussed interest groups.
